today I envy

... everyone who works from home or is on vacation or lives in a place where the clouds haven't burst. I envy those who have dry pant legs, dry shoes and dry socks, who don't smell like wet dogs. I envy those who have garages, who don't have to trek for blocks in rain and wind sans umbrella to get to their car because PG&E has put no-parking signs up in front of their apartment.

Today it was about 70 degrees outside. I didn't need to walk through my garage to my truck in the driveway because I didn't leave the house. I was only wet after the shower. I smelled like buttermilk biscuits all day... or dude.

I hate you. Today I actually had to scrape frost off my windshield with the frost-scraper tool that I haven't used since I lived in Virginia. And the heaters in our apartment don't work. And the windows are too thin. And the cats aren't fat enough to keep us warm.

My cat Sushi is 16 pounds. Fat enough to keep you warm, until he smothers you. My other cat (Wasabi, of course) is tiny, and purrs so goddamn loudly she vibrates, which is actually quite pleasant if she's on the right spot. Just thought you should know.
